Aqua Pennsylvania has informed Jenkintown Borough that they will be replacing the watermain on Linden Street beginning on Monday, February 7th. Aqua will be replacing 392-feet of aging 6-inch cast iron pipe with new 6-inch ductile iron water main, with an expected final paving restoration date sometime in May.
Typically, the work will take place Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM., although crews may work on Saturdays in some cases.
Property owners and residents that will be impacted by this project will receive the following letter. Because Linden Street’s limited width, there will be no parking allowed on the street during daytime hours, beginning on Monday, February 7th and continuing until the excavation and installation of the new watermain can be completed. This is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.
After the installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before being placed in service. Once water quality tests have been passed, Aqua Pennsylvania will transfer each water service and fire hydrant to the new main before abandoning the old main in place.
AQUA will notify customers ahead of any planned water service interruptions and will provide 48 hours advance notice for any scheduled interruption greater than 30 minutes.
Any questions concerning this project should be directed to AQUA Pennsylvania at the number provided in the letter or door hanger.
