Alexander Koenigsberg, 20, of the 2500 block of B. Walton Road, Huntingdon Valley, has been sentenced to a minimum of six years in prison for a DUI-related vehicular homicide charge.
Koenigsberg confessed in March 2023 to driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he caused a car accident in Cheltenham that claimed the life of Nicholas Bednarek, 20, of Abington and injured three others who were passengers in the car.
The crash took place in the early morning hours of January 23, 2022 on Greenwood Avenue in Cheltenham Township. He was 18 years old at the time.
“We told you multiple times to pull over and you didn’t. I remember every second of it. It haunts me every night. What happened that night is so unforgivable. I trusted you with my safety. You cared more about your car than the safety of us,” a passenger who suffered severe injuries when she was ejected through the windshield said in a court testimony directed at Koenigsberg.
He pleaded guilty in March 2023 to three felony counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, and has been charged with homicide by vehicle by Montgomery County Court.
