The Abington Township Shade Tree Commission is hosting a free tree giveaway at 2595 Rubicam Avenue in Willow Grove in October.

300 native trees will be given to Abington Township residents between 9:00am and 11:00am on Saturday, October 26.

From the giveaway’s description:

You must be a resident of Abington Township to receive a tree.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Registering guarantees the tree(s) for you, but you MUST pick up your trees between 9:00–11:00 a.m. Any trees that are not picked up by 11:00 a.m. will be given away first-come, first-served between 11:01 a.m.–noon.

Each household can take up to two trees. If taking two trees, one must be a shade tree.

Trees are in 5-gallon containers and are 3 to 8 feet tall. You must be able to take your trees home on the day of the giveaway. The trees should fit in most vehicles. The Abington Shade Tree Commission will provide planting and care instructions. Optional deer protection for the trees will be available.
