YuLee Murphy, a senior at Abington Senior High School, is showing her artwork alongside 19 other young artists through an exhibition titled “Threaded Currents”. Her work can be seen now through April 12 at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) building at 128 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.
The exhibition is presented by PAFA in collaboration with The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) and showcases large-scale, textile-based works by former FWM Apprentices who are PAFA alumni or students. In addition to finished works, the exhibition includes the artists’ personal sketches, mylar screen drawings, color tests, and printed objects, such as pillows and sculptures, offering insight into the collaborative and process-driven nature of the apprenticeship.
Murphy’s work includes a large-scale screen print titled “Fish Braids”, which was created when she participated in the Fabric Workshop High School Internship Program during the summer of 2023.
