Abington School District releases new survey, tax calculator regarding middle school’s future

Dr. Jeffrey S. Fecher, superintendent of the Abington School District, announced that a new survey regarding the future of Abington Middle School has been launched.

According to the announcement, the goal of the survey is to gather feedback from parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and residents of Abington Township and the Borough of Rockledge.

“Please note that this series of questions differs from the survey you may have taken in November. By continuing to share your thoughts on the proposed options for the Middle School, you can help ensure that the plan meets the needs of our students and aligns with our community’s expectations,” Dr. Fecher’s letter said.

The survey will be available online through Monday, December 23. You can also request a paper survey by emailing cr@abington.k12.pa.us or picking one up at the Administration Building.

In related news, the district also announced that a tax calculator has been provided to give constituents an estimate of the individual tax impact on each property for the proposed Middle School options.

In September, the district said current options include renovating the current building ($206M – $268M), building a new middle school ($252M – $307M), building two new middle schools serving grades 6-8 ($320M – $497M), or creating two new middle schools, including one building for grades 5-6 and one for grades 7-8 ($365M to $505M).

For more information, you can visit the district’s new options page or review the presentation from their September meeting.
