The Abington School District honored Dr. Marla Wormley upon her retirement from assistant principal of Abington Senior High School.
An Abington graduate, Dr. Wormley served more than 25 years in education as a counselor, teacher, and lead teacher. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees in education and school counseling from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Gwynedd Mercy University in 2018.
“It feels like Dr. Wormley is graduating with us. You were more than just a principal—you were a mentor, role model, and an amazing leader,” an Abington senior said.

From the district’s post:
She helped guide students, staff, and families through many important milestones, including the transition to Abington’s first 9–12 high school model. For the Class of 2026—the first class to spend all four years in the 9–12 building—Dr. Wormley has been a constant presence from their first day as freshmen to their final days as seniors. Faculty and staff have also valued Dr. Wormley’s steady support, thoughtful guidance, and commitment to helping both students and colleagues succeed.
Congratulations on your retirement, Dr. Wormley, and thank you for the lasting impact you have made on Abington Senior High School. Your leadership, dedication, and care have touched countless lives, and your influence will continue to be felt long after your retirement. We wish you happiness, good health, and many wonderful adventures in this next chapter.
Abington High School’s 2026 commencement ceremony took place on Saturday, May 30.
