Abington police warn of Walgreens phone scam

The Abington Township Police Department announced today that it has been alerted by numerous residents that callers falsely representing Walgreens pharmacy are offering a free massager for joint support.

Police said the callers then ask for personal information and provided the following tips to help you avoid being a victim:

• Be skeptical of unsolicited calls: If you are not sure that the caller is really from Walgreens, hang up. Walgreens or any other legitimate business will never ask you to disclose or verify sensitive personal information, offer a refund you’re not expecting or ask for remote access to your device.

• Ignore unsolicited messages asking for your personal Information: Walgreens will never send you an unsolicited message asking for sensitive personal information.

• Ignore calls for immediate action: Scammers try to get you to act without thinking by creating a sense of urgency.

• These crimes frequently target seniors: Share this information with family members and friends
