Abington police charge woman with assault, reckless endangerment, and related charges following disturbance at The Dollar Tree in Jenkintown

The Abington Township Police Department filed this week information regarding an incident involving Larjah Branch, 19, of Philadelphia.

According to the criminal complaint, Abington police initially responded to a report of a disturbance at The Dollar Tree located at 323 Old York Road in Jenkintown on the afternoon of June 20.

The victim, who was pregnant at the time, said that “a black female, wearing a Hello Kitty bonnet and slippers, had confronted her inside of the store, displayed a knife and made verbal threats to harm her,” the affidavit of probable cause states. “The victim reported that this was not the first instance she was confronted and threatened by this suspect.”

Officers reviewed store security footage and determined Branch as the suspect. The investigation also revealed that she had committed the same act in Upper Moreland Township on July 2.

Branch’s charges include Possessing Instrument of Crime, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Harassment. Arresting officer Janelle Hunt requested a warrant for her arrest, the complaint states.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
