Abington police announce arrest of suspect connected to two recent bank robberies

The Abington Township Police Department announced today the arrest of Dennis Wilson of Philadelphia, who is charged in connection with two recent bank robberies in the township.

An investigation began on Thursday, April 18 when Abington police responded to the PNC Bank at 808 Old York Road for a report of a robbery. According to officials, a male suspect entered the bank, presented a handwritten demand note, then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following the robbery, the suspect solicited a ride from an uninvolved citizen, police said.

Four days later, Abington police responded to TD Bank at 710 Old York Road for the report of another robbery. Officials said a male suspect entered the bank, presented a handwritten demand note, and fled on foot after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following the robbery, the suspect again solicited a ride from an uninvolved citizen, police said.

Officers from Abington, Jenkintown, and Cheltenham Townships searched the area for the suspect, who was eventually located a short distance from the bank.

Police were able to recover all of the money taken during the second robbery.

Police then collected evidence connecting Wilson to both robberies before making the arrest. He is being held at The Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $50,077.00 cash bail.
