The Abington Friends School’s varsity wrestling team secured their first-ever Friends School League championship title on Friday, February 7.
Members of the team include: Kemper Bramblett ’26, Sam Calandra-Jayne ’26, Branden Wylie ’28, Khalil Jimenez ’27, Cole Rodgers ’28, Cormac Linehan ’28, Myles Griffin ’26, Maxwell Berthier ’27, Jackson McWilliams ’25, Quincy Willis ’26, and Dean Sadowski ’27; team’s managers Matthew Velazquez ’26 and Brandon Green ’25.
Coaches Matt Mooney and David Robinson have led the program to one of its strongest seasons to date this year, winning a program best-ever 12 dual matches and recording a 3-2 Friends School League mark, the school said.

In related news, seven Upper School students were recognized in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious program for creative teens, school officials announced.
The students who were recognized include:
- Anna Lena Cassidy, Class of 2026
- Daniel Lahtaw, Class of 2025
- Aquila Mixon, Class of 2025
- Alexia Paulin, Class of 2026
- Will Ortega, Class of 2025
- Piper Konz, Class of 2026
- Nimo Ren, Class of 2025
Abington Friends School, located at 575 Washington Lane in Jenkintown, is a college-preparatory school for students from age 3 through Grade 12.
