Abington Abington Teacher Charged With Sexual Contact With Student

According to 6ABC A Latin teacher at Abington Senior High School has been arrested after being accused of inappropriate contact with a student.

Fifty-five-year-old Thomas Kummer of Willow Grove is facing five felony charges including corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, photographing, filming, or depicting a sexual act on a computer, endangering the welfare of a child, and institutional sexual assault of a minor. Court documents indicate the offenses happened May of this year.

Abington School District Assistant Superintendent Jefferey Fecher announced the charges in a letter to parents. Fecher said school district officials have little information but are cooperating with Abington Township Police.

Kummer was suspended from his teaching position.  Abington Township police will hold a press conference Monday at 11 a.m. revealing more information on the arrest.
