Jiachen Wang, 21, of the unit block of North York Road of Upper Moreland Township, admitted to sexually assaulting a woman at their shared apartment in September 2024, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

Wang, a Chinese national who reportedly was attending a local college as an exchange student, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of sexual assault without consent. He will face a lifetime requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.

According to The Mercury, the incident took place a week after the woman broke off their romantic relationship. The woman reported that she and Wang had been dating for six months.

The woman claimed Wang physically assaulted her, threatened to kill her if she called police, and refused to leave her room.

Wang remains free on bail and on electronic monitoring pending sentencing, The Mercury said.
