Hatboro architect publishes op-ed regarding plans for the former Gamburg’s property

Nick Grimaldi, an architect with Hatboro-based The OMNIA Group Architects and a resident of the borough, published last week an opinion piece regarding plans for the former Gamburg’s furniture store, located at 101 S York Road.

Gamburg’s Furniture closed in November 2023. The property was first listed for sale and lease in March 2024, and a new listing was posted in January 2026.

The article discusses the ins and outs of the property, including potential options for redevelopment.

“For a borough working toward a more walkable downtown, it may be the most significant mixed-use redevelopment opportunity it will see in a generation,” Grimaldi writes. “We have a clear-eyed vision of what this site could be, what makes it difficult, and what it would take to build something the community recognizes as its own.”

In September, borough manager Diane Hegele told Glenside Local that the property is currently under agreement, though details are being withheld until settlement, which is expected in January.

Additional details about the property can be found here.

More to come.
