Dr. Jeffrey Fecher, superintendent of the Abington School District, sent a memo to families today regarding a temporary lockdown this morning at Abington Senior High School.
According to the memo, students reported a “possible weapon” which prompted a lockdown while school officials and the Abington Township Police Department investigated.
“It was confirmed that a student had a Nerf gun (toy) and it is currently in our possession,” the memo said, noting that the lockdown has been lifted and a normal school day has been resumed.
Abington police posted the following:
The Abington Township Police Department responded to a report of a weapon at Abington Senior High School. Upon investigation, officers determined that the item was a Nerf toy gun, not a real firearm.
