Jenkintown’s Hiway Theater hosted a screening of the upcoming five-part PBS docuseries “Bucks County, USA” on Tuesday, September 15, Philly Voice reported.

The screening was initially to be hosted at Bucks County Community College’s campus in Newtown Township, but organizers cancelled due to last-minute safety concerns.

“The September 15 prescreening of ‘Bucks County, USA’ was canceled after we received information that raised concerns about our ability to provide a safe environment for campus visitors,” BCCC said in a statement released Monday. “With the docuseries premiering locally on WHYY in less than one week and erring on the side of caution, the decision was made to cancel the event.”

The series, which was produced by award-winning filmmakers Barry Levinson and Robert May, explores political polarization in the Central Bucks School District.

Evi and Vanessa, two 14-year-olds living in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, are best friends despite their opposing political beliefs. As nationwide disputes explode into vitriol and division in their hometown, the girls and others in the community work to navigate their differences and find a new path
