Jenkintown grad earns Eagle Scout ranking following library project

Joey Gunn, a 2026 graduate of Jenkintown High School, was named an Eagle Scount during his Board of Review held in Immaculate Conception’s Conahan Hall on Monday, July 17.

Committee member Greg Lester told Glenside Local that Gunn’s Eagle Project involved leading a team of volunteers to plan, build, and install a small pedestrian bridge over the drainage ditch by the Jenkintown Library.

“As a Scout, he was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and loyalty to his friends. He is the human embodiment of the “friendly” tenet of the Scout Law,” Lester said. “He made a name for himself as an all-around great guy, as well as a member of the Jenkintown football team, a frequent lead actor in the theater program, and he knocked ’em dead with an acoustic Nirvana cover at the talent show.”

Gunn is the son of Theresa and Joe Gunn, Sr., (pictured) and the older brother to Tiger and Lucy. He will attend Penn State’s main campus to study education this fall.
