Meet Daune Marie: Owner of Blooming Peace Studio, now open at former Then and Again space in Glenside

Blooming Peace Studio is now open for business at 221 South Easton Road, the former home of Then and Again.

The new studio hosts classes, workshops, community studio hours, private, individual and group sessions, and other services focused on the process of creative expression.

Owner (and the property’s full-time inhabitant) Daune Marie told Glenside Local she relocated over the summer from Ambler and soft opened on August 1.

“It’s a wonderful house. It feels like home. Glenside is such a welcoming, kind-hearted community. I’ve been getting new people coming for every class,” she said. “I wanted to create a warm, inviting space from the moment they walk in the door.”

Marie said she spent her 40+-year career in corporate roles, mostly in the field of commercial landscaping or related industries. She became certified as a Restorative Teaching Artist, and in 2007, she started an Art for Therapy Program at Broad Street Love (formerly called Broad Street Ministry) for people struggling below the poverty line.

Blooming Peace, now in its 10th year, was founded as a legacy project and previously existed at the Whitemarsh Learning & Wellness Center in Fort Washington.

In October 2025, the studio was featured by WHYY in a segment titled “Health, Mind, Body, & Soul“.

“I wasn’t allowed to have a sign there, so I was kind of like a hidden gem,” she said. “This started out as a side passion and a response to loss. I went through a horrific divorce and then my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to facilitate healing using creativity.”

“Any kinds of trauma or loss can cause stress, so we do a lot with stress relief,” Marie said. “We do a lot of fun things, too. This isn’t a fine arts studio. It’s more for connection and inspiration. There’s an opportunity to work on yourself.”

The basement will serve as a potential future space for “the messy things” like pottery and mosaics, Marie said. A grand opening is TBA.

“We’re going to take part in the Glenside Food Truck Festival. We’ll be open so people can tour it,” Marie said.
