Abington Township officials unveiled the new playground at Baederwood Park during a ceremony on Wednesday, July 8.

Officials said the project was funded through a Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“We are grateful for HUD’s investment in our Township and the opportunity to bring this long-awaited improvement to the park. It had been nearly 20 years since the playground last received significant upgrades,” the township said in a post. “The event coincided with our Library Pop-Up in the Park, and we were thrilled to welcome more than 200 community members, along with our elected officials and township staff. Thank you to all who joined us and helped make this project possible.”

In late June, township officials announced a new playground at the Elk Street Tot Lot, located at 419 Elk Street in Glenside.
