Dr. Mark Fox, longtime owner of Rau Animal Hospital in Glenside, has passed away at 73

Dr. E. Mark Fox, a resident of Abington Township and longtime owner of Rau Animal Hospital in Glenside, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2. He was 73.

Dr. Fox joined the Rau family in 1981 as an associate veterinarian and owned the clinic from 1986 until his retirement in 2025. He also acquired Rau Too Animal Hospital and Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic.

An alumnus of Germantown Academy, Hamilton College, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Fox was a longtime board member of the Abington YMCA and served in other local civic organizations, according to his obituary.

Dr. Fox fully embraced the special bond between people and their pets creating an atmosphere of caring and compassion at Rau Animal Hospital. He was a caring, generous, and kind person, who always encouraged his Rau Animal Hospital team to continue to learn and grow in the veterinary field. He was instrumental in Rau Animal Hospital becoming accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
