Jenkintown, Rockledge boroughs release annual 4th of July celebration details

The Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department announced that it is sponsoring the borough’s annual 4th of July celebration again this year.

The parade will take place on Saturday, July 4 at 9:30am with a rain date of Sunday, July 5. It will feature local fire trucks, bands, a color guard, various community service groups, and decorated bikes for children.

Following the parade, prizes will be awarded for “Best Decorated Bikes” in three categories: “Strollers & Wagons”, “Tricycles” and “Bikes”.

“Being a safety-oriented organization, we would ask that any child riding a bike through the parade route that is under the age of 12 wear a bike helmet,” the announcement said.

The route will begin on Leedom Street and Greenwood Avenue, then proceed north on Leedom Street to Hillside Avenue, west on Hillside Avenue to Walnut Street, south on Walnut Street to West Avenue, and commence at the Town Square.

Hot dogs and cold beverages will be served by the Pioneer Fire Company at the conclusion of the parade.
