Upper Moreland Township is set to receive roughly $2.28 million for two forthcoming trail projects, The Pottstown Mercury reported.
A $1.35 million agreement covered “preliminary engineering services for the Cross County Trail East–Section B” in Upper Moreland Township. Another roughly $934,395 agreement covered “preliminary engineering services for the Cross County Trail East – Section A” in Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland townships, The Mercury said.
Section A is a planned 1.6-mile segment connecting Dryden Road to Maryland Road, designed to improve regional connectivity between the Pennypack Trail and Willow Grove area. Section B is a planned 2.1-mile multi-use trail segment and is part of a larger project to extend the existing 3-mile Cross County Trail into a 17.5-mile corridor connecting Conshohocken to the Pennypack Trail.
The contracts were evaluated and awarded by Montgomery County officials and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Eighty percent of funding was obtained through federal monies, while 20 percent came from county capital improvement program dollars for both contracts, The Mercury said.
