The Edge Hill Fire Company of Glenside assisted with a house fire on Thursday, January 15 just after 8:30pm along the 700 block of Germantown Pike in Whitemarsh Township.
The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company said that three firefighters were injured during the response, two of whom suffered burns during searches of the residence. The other firefighter injured his shoulder after falling on ice.
“Crews arrived on scene and found a large, rapidly spreading fire on the south side of the residence, fueled by winds last night,” Barren Hill officials said in a post. “Crews deployed multiple hose lines to make an aggressive attack on the fire, while ladder companies gained access to the residence to conduct searches.”

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and were not injured, though a dog and a cat were unable to be saved.
The incident remains under investigation by the Whitemarsh Township Fire Marshals office, Barren Hill officials said.
