The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced today that officers responded to a report of an abduction in progress at 3001 Cheltenham Avenue in Wyncote.
Police arrived approximately two minutes after the call was dispatched, the department said.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a person known to the victims took the adult victim’s vehicle with a two-year-old child in the vehicle,” the report said. “The adult victim located the vehicle and child at the above location and called 9-1-1. Cheltenham Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the operator fled in the vehicle, with the child.”
Officers stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of E. Walnut Lane in Philadelphia where they safely recovered the child and took the driver into custody.
Police said there is an active investigation and charges are pending. There are currently no additional suspects.
