Salus University, Bryn Athyn College, Manor College included in Business Journal’s list of highest-paid faculty in Philly region

Salus University (Elkins Park), Bryn Athyn College, and Manor College (Jenkintown) were named in a Philadelphia Business Journal list of the highest-paying Philadelphia-area colleges and universities in fiscal year 2024.

According to the list, which was sourced from U.S. Department of Education data, Salus’ 110 faculty members averaged $108,470 (11th highest), Bryn Athyn’s 28 faculty members averaged $76,572 (36th highest), and Manor College’s 20 faculty members averaged $62,186 (52nd highest).

By comparison, the University of Pennsylvania had the highest average faculty pay at nearly $190,000 and also had the region’s second-largest workforce at 1,464, which equates to roughly $278 million paid to faculty annually.

According to Indeed.com, Arcadia University in Glenside (which was omitted from The Journal’s list) pays full-time faculty an average salary of $79,844. Univstats.com lists Arcadia’s average salary at $78,667, which would the school around 33rd highest in The Journal’s list.

On July 3, Salus’ merger with Drexel University (8th highest average salary at $119,564) was finalized, which may impact both institutions’ pay moving forward.
