Multigenerational dancers from Jenkintown Dance Arts of Glenside and Flamenco Y Más of Jenkintown have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall (New York City) on Saturday, July 5 at 2:00pm in collaboration with the Indian Dance Company of Philadelphia.
The 4th annual All Indian Dance Festival will feature Indian classical and folk dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Manipuri, Mohiniyattam, Garba, Raas, Kavadi, Koravanji, Lavani, Mangalagaur, Gondhal, an Indian contemporary collaboration with flamenco, and more. More details here.
Anne Margaret O’Malley, Professor of Dance at Eastern University, will serve as the artistic director and co-choreographer for Flamenco Y Más and Jenkintown Dance Arts. Flamenco Y Más was invited because the Roma people emigrated to Spain from India. They settled in Andalucia (Spain) and from the mix of cultures, song, dance and oppression, flamenco was born.
