Kathy A. Trainor, Glenside native and longtime professor at Arcadia University, has passed away at 65

Kathy A. Trainor, a Glenside native and longtime professor at Arcadia University, passed away on Sunday, June 15. She was 65 years old.

According to her biography, Trainor served the Arcadia community for over 20 years as an Adjunct Professor of Education with an emphasis in inclusive early childhood education. She taught courses in the PreK-4 and Special Education undergraduate and graduate programs and was a lead teacher and assistant director of the childcare program on the campus of Beaver College (now Arcadia University). 

“For over four decades, she inspired generations of students as a respected professor at Arcadia University,” her obituary said. “Her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support left a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.”

Trainor was also a member of the Glenside Gaelic Club community as the mother of two youth coaches, the sister of the club’s registrar, aunt of the club’s chairperson, and a grandmother to many players.

“Her kindness, strength, and spirit touched so many, and her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the love she gave,” the club said in a post. “The Glenside Gaelic Club wishes comfort and peace to everyone who loved Kathy. She will be deeply missed.”

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at William R. May Funeral Home, 354 N. Eason Rd. (at Keswick Ave.), Glenside, PA 19038 and on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9:30-10:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Queen of Peace Church, 820 North Hills Ave., Ardsley, PA 19038.  Her interment will be private.
