The North Hills Black Hall of Fame will host their first annual celebration on Sunday, June 22 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the North Hills Community Center (212 Girard Avenue).
“The North Hills Black Hall of Fame honors and preserves the legacy of Black excellence in the North Hills region by recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to culture, education, leadership, entrepreneurship, athletics, and community empowerment,” Omar Cruickshank, owner of Crush Crew Jiu Jitsu in Flourtown, said in a statement. “We are committed to celebrating heritage, inspiring future generations, and fostering a spirit of unity, pride, and progress.”
Nominations are being accepted for the following categories:
1. Athletic Endeavors (High school, College and Professional)
2. Entrepreneurship/Business
3. Community Leaders
4. Academic Achievers and Educators
5. Unsung Heroes
Cruickshank told Glenside Local that organizers are looking for sponsorships and donations. Nominations and questions can be sent to Northhillsblackhalloffame.org@gmail.com.
