Lower Moreland police arrest man on retail theft charges from 2020

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced today the arrest of Luis F. Hernandez, 50, who is accused of stealing $688 worth of merchandise from Fisher’s Ace Hardware located on the 600 block of Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley on September 10, 2020.

According to their report, employees said that two offenders, Hernandez and Kathleen Olevsky, stole merchandise and fled the store.

Though the police report lists 2020 as the year of the theft, a Patch article says the incident took place in 2021. The article also says that the pair was arrested and charged on December 22, 2021, and that Hernandez faced similar charges out of Lower Salford Township for an unrelated theft incident.

In May 2024, the East Earl Township Police Department said that Olevsky allegedly conspired with Melissa E. Swanson to cash a forged check in the amount of $2500.

On May 7, Hernandez was arrested with a warrant for the charges listed below:

  • (1) COUNT OF 3929 A1 RETAIL THEFT
  • (1) COUNT OF 3925 A RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY
