Eccentric amateur fisherman conducts species assessment of TTF watershed

A resident of greater Glenside shared today a video featuring amateur fisherman “Detective Leo-chu” conducting a species assessment of the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed (TTF) to see the effects of the gasoline and cyanide spills that took place following the SPS Technologies fire in February.

His assessment: The waterway has a healthy population of fish, though it’s worth noting that chemical testing in that area is ongoing.

“The numbers don’t lie bro, the number of species, the life, this place is teeming with life,” he says. “I’m extremely happy to see that because the TTF watershed is one of the few places around my area nowadays that is not really stocked with invasive trout.”

Backstory: Roughly a week after the fire, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection found cyanide in the Tookany Creek via samples taken downstream from the SPS facility and at the Greenwood Avenue Bridge in Jenkintown.
