Amazon Fresh Willow Grove expected to open soon, now hiring

After years of planning and another year of delays, the Amazon Fresh at the Willow Grove Shopping Center is showing signs of progress.

Ads for a Grocery Associate now appear on Amazon’s job listings, and store associates have reportedly been seen entering the building.

Plans for the Willow Grove location date back to at least April 2020 when Amazon and Federal Realty Investment Trust signed a lease agreement. In 2022, a liquor license was transferred from Oh Bryon’s Roast Beef in Huntingdon Valley.

In May 2023, the Willow Grove Shopping Center’s landlord filed a lawsuit alleging Amazon had breached its lease agreement. Amazon filed a counterclaim alleging that the landlord hadn’t held up their end of the bargain, either.

In late September, Upper Moreland Township manager Patrick Stasio told Glenside Local that plans were still on, as his office had “heard nothing to the contrary.”

Amazon Fresh stores have traditionally staffed checkouts, and customers can also use Amazon Dash Cart if they have an Amazon account with a linked credit or debit card.

On October 10, Amazon announced “that it has modified the fulfillment centers at 26 Amazon Fresh stores around the globe to include select products from Whole Foods Market and Amazon.com.” According to the story, shoppers near those fulfillment centers can now place orders that include “a wide range of price tiers from those Amazon Fresh locations, including natural, organic, and specialty products from Whole Foods, more affordable grocery items from Amazon Fresh, and national brand products such as Coke, Kraft, and Tide from Amazon.com.”

On September 10, Amazon announced “new, exclusive discounts for Prime members shopping in-store and online at Amazon Fresh; a new private-label brand that offers great value for all customers; and enhancements to the online experience that make it easier for customers to shop for groceries from Amazon Fresh.”

On September 26, a new Amazon Fresh opened in Oxford Valley, Bucks County. Locations also exist in Warrington and Bensalem.

The store is located at 102 Park Avenue, the former address of Barnes & Noble. We will be in touch as we learn of a grand opening date.
