The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced today that officers “wrangled a pig this afternoon on Tookany Parkway.”

According to their Facebook post, police believe it’s the same pig seen wandering through Cheltenham Village last weekend.

Officers kept the pig in their possession before dropping him off at the Abington SPCA.

Police said the owner can contact the SPCA directly.

In related news, today officers from Abington, Cheltenham, Jenkintown, Lower Moreland, Springfield, Philadelphia, Upper Dublin, and Upper Moreland police departments met at MossRehab to honor and support Det. Kyle Gilmartin of the Scranton Police Department.

On January 11 during an investigation in West Scranton, a suspect walked up to an unmarked police sedan and fired five rounds from point-blank range, shooting Gilmartin twice in the head. He has been rehabilitating in the Elkins Park facility since mid-January.

Officials said Gilmartin has completed his in-patient rehabilitation and was discharged to recover at home.

“He walked out of the hospital today with colleagues from Scranton, friends and family by his side, after being shot in the head while protecting and serving the citizens of Scranton. It was an honor to salute Det. Gilmartin and escort him to the Turnpike on his trip home to Scranton,” the Jenkintown Police Department said in a Facebook post.
