Domestic shooting in Willow Grove early Saturday morning, Abington detectives searching for suspect

The Abington Township Police Department announced that a shooting took place in Willow Grove on Saturday, October 7 at approximately 3:00am.

According to police, an adult male was found at the 1600 block of Washington Avenue with gunshot wounds to his legs. Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived and the victim was taken to Jefferson Abington hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled by car before police arrived at the scene and may have fled into a nearby residence. Officials learned that the shooting was domestic and that the suspect and victim know one another.

On 10/7/23, at 0320 hours, Abington Police responded to the 1600 block of Washington Ave in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, an adult male was found in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs. Officers immediately applied tourniquets and provided first aid to the victim before being relieved by ambulance personnel. Information was received that the suspect may have fled into a nearby residence. With the permission of the homeowner, police checked the interior of the home but were unable to locate the suspect. It was later discovered that he had fled the area in a vehicle prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to Jefferson Abington hospital and treated for non-life threating injuries. Further investigation revealed that this was a domestic related incident, and the suspect and victim are known to each other.
