‘Lucky,’ found paralyzed in Elkins Park four months ago, finds permanent home

‘Lucky,’ an abandoned pit bull mix found paralyzed on the SEPTA tracks in Elkins Park four months ago, has officially found a permanent home.

The injured dog has been adopted by Sidara Son, a Philadelphia resident who worked with the Philly Rescue Angels to rescue him back in November.

After his abandonment, rescuers believe Lucky spent days on SEPTA’s tracks. He underwent a 6-hour spinal surgery at University of Pennsylvania’s Ryan Veterinary Hospital, and now uses a wheeled cart to get around.

While Lucky has mostly recovered, Philly Rescue Angels noted in a social media post that they would continue to cover the expenses of Lucky’s care, as his ongoing medical bills will be costly due to the injuries he sustained on the tracks.
