Today via a press release, Montgomery County officials reported that there are 54 new cases of Coronavirus, with nine of those cases tied to a long-term care facility. The case total countywide since the start of the pandemic is now 8,207. The 54 new cases represent the highest one-day total over the last 14 days.
The county also reported one confirmed death due to Coronavirus, which brings the total number of confirmed deaths to 791.
Not reported in the press release are the number of probable deaths, the overall percentage of confirmed deaths tied to long-term care facilities, and data on hospitalizations.

The two charts above show the number of new positive cases over the past 14 days. The number of cases has declined by 449 in comparison to the previous 14 days. However, the number of cases has increased by 35 in comparison to the previous seven days. The numbers are still way down over the peak.

While the state has abandoned the formula of needing to have an average of no more than 30 cases per day over 14-days to reach the yellow phase of reopening, the charts show that Montgomery County is 2.4 cases off that original benchmark. Montgomery County was moved to the green phase as of today.
