Streaming library movies for free now a thing

With apps like Libby, we’ve had the ability to borrow e-books and audio books for some time. Now we can borrow movie streams as well thanks to Kanopy.

If you’re interested in independent, international, classic, or documentary films, you’re in luck. Get out your Abington Township library card and sign up for Kanopy, our newest on-demand video streaming service.  Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

You probably have a long wait before “The Avengers” is available, but you can stream over 30,000 films from hundreds of popular producers such as The Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, and PBS, as well as thousands of independent filmmakers—on every topic imaginable. 

If you are already a library card holder, you can create a kanopy account today by visiting http://abington.kanopy.com. You will need a email address and your library card number to complete the log -in. 

There is a limit of ten (10) checkouts per calendar month. Three days to watch each film (Once you press play on a film you have three days to view it as many times as you like without using another play credit) Play credits reset on the 1st of the month.
