Fire companies from all over our area responded to a three-alarm fire at about 8:30 PM at the 1900 block of Cheltenham Avenue on the Cheltenham side. Three stores were completely engulfed in flames that first responders were still extinguishing as of 10:45 PM, Thursday night.

According to Jenkintown Police Chief Kevin Lynch who was on the scene, the cause was unknown when we spoke, with no injuries reported.

Destroyed in the fire was Jay Cheltenham Deli, Sunny Cigarettes and Cigars, and Ban Dal Beauty Salon.

Companies on the scene included Jenkintown’s Pioneer and Independent, Rockledge Abington, Ogontz, Elkins Park, Flourtown, Glenside, Wyndmoor, Edge Hill, and others.
