Two of Cheltenham’s favorite annual spring events are happening the first weekend in June. The 62nd annual Fishing Derby is presented by the Cheltenham/Rockledge Rotary Club in cooperation with the Cheltenham Township Parks happens this Saturday, June 1st and Arts in the Park is presented by Friends of High School Park on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Fishing Derby

The Derby is Saturday, June 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kleinheinz Pond Tookany Creek Parkway(between Central Avenue and Beryl Road in Cheltenham). Children can test their skill and luck at the 62nd Annual Fishing Derby. The Fishing Derby is open to kids up to age 15 and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. The $3 entrance fee entitles participants use the pole and line, one hot dog, one soda and a chance to win great prizes. Participants must bring their own bait. There is no rain date for this event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., come early to get the best spot around the pond.
Arts in the Park

Arts in the Park is happening this Sunday, June 2nd featuring fine handcrafted works by juried artisans along with premier local musicians, plant sales, a beer garden, tasty food vendors, a moon bounce and other fun are on tap for the 24th The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in High School Park, located at High School Road and Montgomery Avenue in Elkins Park. Arts in the Park was created in 1995, to bring together talented local artists and musicians for a fun, creative day to help raise funds for Friends of High School Park, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring native plant ecosystems at township-owned High School Park.
Arts in the Park will also highlight Sustainable Cheltenham with environmental displays. The awards presentation to the 2019, Sustainable Cheltenham Awards will happen from 1:45 to 2:00 p.m. during Arts in the Park. Sustainable Cheltenham is a township-wide campaign to unite Cheltenham Township residents, businesses, institutions and community stakeholders behind a shared vision for a more resilient and environmentally-friendly community. The Cheltenham Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) established an annual awards program to recognize citizens who make significant contributions to the Sustainable Cheltenham mission.
