Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15 PM on top of the ongoing tornado watch. As this is posted, it’s pouring hard outside Glenside Local’s spacious offices. Be careful out there!

From the NWS:

Until 615 PM EDT.

At 537 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Woodbury Heights to near Laurel Lake to near Big Stone Beach, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area.

Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

southern Delaware…southern New Jersey…and southeastern
Pennsylvania.
