Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele released today a new wanted poster which offers $7,500 for information leading to the arrest of Vernon Hatchett, 40, of Glenside, who is charged with multiple felonies related to the death of his son.
His son, 21-year-old Tylim Hatchett, died from neglect on September 18, 2024. He weighed 59 pounds at the time.
Sherrilynn Hawkins, Tylim’s mother and a resident of Dresher, pled guilty today to Third-Degree Murder, Neglect of a Dependent Care Person, Theft by Deception and Conspiracy to Theft by Deception and was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison, the DA said. She pled not guilty in April.


Tylim’s caretaker Loretta Harris, 46, pled guilty in September to endangering his welfare as well as receiving $12,000 in payments between February 17 and September 18, 2024, for care that she never provided.
An arrest warrant was issued for Vernon Hatchett in December 2024. In January, officials began offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. In April, officials began offering a $10,000 reward for information.
His charges include two first-degree felony counts of Neglect of Care Dependent Person Resulting in Death, Abuse of Care Dependent Person for Whom He is Responsible and Conspiracy to Commit Involuntary Manslaughter.
He is described as a 5’10” black male weighing 190 pounds. If anyone sees Hatchett, who is also known as Khaliyl Ward, call 911 and do not approach him. For tips on Hatchett’s whereabouts, call Montgomery County Detectives at 610-278-3386 or Upper Dublin Police at 215-646-2101.
