Wawa giving away free coffee during Tuesday’s 60th anniversary celebration

On Tuesday, April 16, all Wawa convenience stores will celebrate Wawa Day in honor of their 60th anniversary.

The Pennsylvania-based convenience store will offer customers a free hot coffee of any size, all day. Their coffee bar will have vintage cups that reflect designs through the past six decades.

The company expects to hand out over 1.5 million cups of coffee nationwide.

In addition to a free cup, all Wawa locations will select a “Day Brightening” customer, who can score a sash, mug, and a week’s worth of coffee. According to NBC, customers will also see special deals like 60-cent promotions including birthday cake donuts, teas, juices, and lemonade. The store will be decked-out in 1960s fashion and offer vintage hoagie paper and special tumblers.

Wawa will host two celebrations in Philly, one at its 6th and Chestnut store and another at the National Constitution Center.

Wawa now has more than 1,000 locations in the Philadelphia region, as well as in Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C.

“As we celebrate this momentous 60th anniversary milestone, we want to thank our customers and associates for creating the unforgettable connections that have propelled us through the years and have allowed us to continue to go beyond filling orders, to fulfilling lives every day,” Wawa’s CEO, Chris Gheysens, said. “On April 16, we invite our customers to celebrate our history and our future, and toast with us as we celebrate the countless day-brightening moments that we have had together through the years.”
