Multiple fire companies extinguish early-morning fire in Glenside home

The Glenside Fire Company announced that multiple crews were dispatched to a dwelling fire at a house along Cheltenham Avenue at approximately 2:15am Friday, March 12.

Volunteers from Wyndmoor Hose, Weldon Fire Company, Edge Hill Fire Company, Oreland Volunteer Fire Company, and Glenside Fire Company, among other mutual aid outfits, were on scene within minutes, officials said.

Crews were able to locate and extinguish a small fire in a second-floor bedroom of the home.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Cheltenham Township Fire Marshal’s Office, officials said.

Officials additionally noted that the homeowners were alerted of the emergency due to the presence of smoke detectors in their home.

“Because of this, all occupants made it out safely and no injuries were reported. We would like to thank all of the mutual aid companies that assisted early this morning,” Glenside Fire Company said.
