The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association (GGPA) announced that it has received a $5,000 grant from All State Insurance for community service.
GGPA members joined area groups at George Washington Memorial Park on Sunday to place flags in preparation of Memorial Day services.
“Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to show respect and gratitude to all service members who are no longer with us,” GGPA said in a post.
The organization held their 11th annual “Keep the Parade Running” fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 as GGPA volunteers gear up for Glenside’s 121st annual three-tier, family-friendly Independence Day celebration.
Wyndmoor Memorial Day Parade
Springfield Township announced that the Wyndmoor Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27 beginning at 9:30am.
Hosted by the Arthur V. Savage Post 100, the parade features armed service veterans, Springfield’s three volunteer fire companies, girl/boy scouts, musicians, vehicle displays, and more.
The parade will begin on Willow Grove Avenue near Elm Avenue and end at Queen Street and Willow Grove Avenue (near the Wyndmoor Hose Fire Co.). Following the parade, a community day event with free attractions, live music, and food will be held at Veterans Park from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
Abington Police Memorial Day
Abington Police Memorial Day will take place on June 1 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Abington Township Police Department.
The day will include outdoor static displays, demonstrations, food trucks and tours of our headquarters.
This event will also observe the 75th anniversary of Officer Thomas Mathews who was killed in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a burglary suspect in the Rydal.
Mathews’ Memorial Ceremony will begin at 11:00am. A flyer with the schedule of events is below:
Roslyn Community Day
Roslyn Community Day will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Roslyn Park, 2818 Anzac Avenue in Abington Township.
