Zoe Johnson, 22, of Elkins Park faces preliminary hearing after being arrested at climate protest at Vanguard

Zoe Johnson, 22, of Elkins Park was one of 16 suspects accused of staging a climate policy protest that blocked entrances and exits at Vanguard headquarters in Chester County.

The suspects, many of whom are affiliated with a Quaker group and Extinction Rebellion, were charged with failure of disorderly persons to disperse upon official order, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. Johnson faces a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 9.

According to PBS’ WHYY News, “It’s the latest escalation of the Earth Quaker Action Team after two years of attempts to get a sit-down meeting with Vanguard executives to discuss the asset manager’s fossil fuel investments.”

The protests are part of a wider campaign called Vanguard S.O.S., which has targeted the company over its investments in oil, gas and coal. For the full list of suspects facing court action, you can click here.
