Wyncote Academy’s application for zoning relief will be heard during Cheltenham Township’s Zoning Hearing Board on Monday, July 10 at 7:30pm at Curtis Hall.
The Elkins Park school has asked the Township to relocate its special education school, currently located at 7613 Old York Road, to 218 Glenside Avenue, the former site of a Lincoln Investment.
From the agenda:
APPEAL NO. 23-3725 (Amended): Application of Wyncote Academy, for the premises known as 38 E. Glenside Avenue, Wyncote, PA 19095, from the Decision of the Zoning Officer for the following Zoning Relief to allow for a private school use on the property located in the R-2 Residential Zoning District.
Zoning Relief:
- A special exception from Section 295-2502.B(2) to change from the existing nonconforming commercial office use to a nonconforming school use, or in the alternative a variance from Section 295-601 to allow for a school use at the property.
- An Appeal from the Determination of the Zoning Officer dated February 27, 203 (Determination Letter) that the minimum lot area of six (6) acres for the school use does not apply since the subject parcel is nonconforming as to lot size, or in the alternative a variance from Section 295-405D(12) to allow the school use on the subject parcel, which is 1.79 acres in size.
- An Appeal from the Determination Letter that there is adequate off-street parking for the proposed school use, or in the alternative a variance from Section 295-2301E to have lesser off-street parking.
- An Appeal from the Determination Letter that the school use will not include outdoor play areas and
therefore no buffering is required, or in the alternative a variance from Section 295-405.D(12)(b) to allow the use with no such buffering.
