The Women’s Center of Montgomery County, a volunteer-driven community organization, is hosting a 50th anniversary gala celebration from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, October 15 at The Highlands in Fort Washington.

The evening will bring together supporters, volunteers and community leaders to celebrate the center’s history of transforming lives and will feature the unveiling of a trailer for a documentary about the Women’s Center produced by Melissa Davey.

The celebration will feature keynote speaker Katie Koestner, a nationally recognized advocate and survivor whose public story helped start a global movement against sexual violence. Her advocacy has shaped federal student safety legislation, reached audiences from the United Nations to Harvard and Yale, and helped grow the Take Back The Night Foundation into a global force.

“While we are incredibly proud of how far we have come over the last 50 years, the reality is that our services are needed now more than ever,” said Maria Macaluso, executive director of the Women’s Center of Montgomery County. “Our upcoming documentary captures that powerful history, but it also serves as a call to action. I hope our community will join us on October 15 as we honor The Center’s past and empower each other to work for a better future.”

Locally, the center has offices in Meadowbrook and Wyncote.
