William Stevenson, 77, the ex-husband of former first lady Jill Biden, who spent part of her childhood in Willow Grove and attended Upper Moreland High School, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his current wife Linda, NBC News reported today.

New Castle County police did not provide details on the death, but an initial release said that officers responded to a domestic dispute on December 28 at a residence in the Wilmington, Delaware area, according to NBC’s coverage.

Linda Stevenson, 64, was found unresponsive in the living room. William Stevenson is currently in custody at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in Delaware.

Jill Biden (nee Jacobs) married Stevenson in February 1970, when she was 18 years old and he was 23. They were married for five years, divorcing in May 1975, NBC said. In March 1975, she met Joe Biden, a Delaware senator at the time.
