Willow Grove man sentenced for having sexual contact with two underage girls

Dante Shurone Newman, 28, of Willow Grove (Upper Moreland Township), was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison for having sexual contact with two girls—ages 15 and 16—that he first met on social media, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

Newman pleaded guilty to charges of corruption of minors and attempted sexual abuse of children. He was ordered to complete three years of probation consecutive to parole and faces a 25-year requirement to report his address to state police to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.

An investigation began in October 2024 when Upper Moreland detectives learned that Newman had inappropriate contact with two girls. According to The Mercury, he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the 15-year-old victim between August 2023 and April 2024 and with the 16-year-old victim between December 2023 and November 2024.

The 15-year-old victim told detectives she met Newman on Snapchat and that “he told her that he was a firefighter.” The girl also said that Newman provided her with marijuana, and that he had sexual contact with her on two occasions at his apartment.

The 16-year-old victim said she also met Newman on a social media platform and claimed Newman gave her alcohol and had sexual contact with her on multiple occasions at his residence. Newman also asked her to send him naked photographs of herself.

When Newman learned the 16-year-old girl became pregnant, he told her not to tell her mother and facilitated transportation to a medical clinic in New Jersey to terminate the pregnancy because, according to Newman, the state does not require parental consent for an abortion.

Newman also admitted to having sexual contact with the 15-year-old girl, The Mercury said.
