Daniel Francisco Santiago, 27, of Willow Grove (Upper Moreland Township) has been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck a parked car and then stabbed a woman who attempted to stop him from fleeing on Friday, June 20, the Allentown Police Department announced in a press release.
He is charged with felony burglary, two counts felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor possession of instruments of a crime, and misdemeanor DUI.
Police said they found “an adult female with an apparent slash wound to her head. Officers provided first aid to the female, and she was subsequently taken by Allentown EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.”
The victim and a witness told officers that a man, later identified as Santiago, had stuck a parked car and was trying to leave the scene when they confronted him.
“A verbal disturbance ensued, and as the victim and witness retreated to their residence, the male operator followed the female victim back into the residence and assaulted her with a cutting instrument,” the press release says. Police did not say what type of weapon was used in the alleged assault or mention why burglary is included in the list of charges.
Santiago is due back in court for a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for 10:15am on Monday, June 30.
