Willow Grove Fire Company mourns the loss of longtime volunteer James Patrick Lee, Sr.

The Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company (WGVFC) is mourning the loss of longtime volunteer James Patrick Lee, Sr., who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1 after a battle with cancer. He was 77 years old.

According to his obituary, Lee was a life member of the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad and spent more than 55 years with WGVFC. He served as President of the newly formed Upper Moreland Township Volunteer Fire Department until his passing.

Lee was also a longtime member of the Masonic Order of W K Bray Southampton Lodge No 410.

“His true passion was the railroad with a career spanning 41 years,” his obituary said. “He proudly worked for Reading Railroad, Conrail, and Septa, retiring as Chief Supervisor of Operations, Control Center.”

“Thoughts and prayers go out to the Lee Family. .Jim did so much for the community and will not be forgotten,” WGVFC said in a post. “RIP, Thank You for all you have done for the community. You will be missed.”

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 Easton Road, Willow Grove. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to his Memorial Service at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 7 at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 E. Swamp Road in Doylestown. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance are encouraged.
