When to put out Christmas trees for collection

Wondering what to do with that Christmas tree you don’t feel like taking down? Below find the details for Abington, Cheltenham, Springfield, Jenkintown, and Rockeledge:

Abington Township
Abington Township asks that you place your discarded tree curbside on your regular trash day beginning the first trash day of the year. Trees are collected from January 2nd through January 31st. Trees should be free of all decorations, wires, and tree stands. Please note, trees will be collected curbside only. No trees can be taken to the public works yard by residents.

The trees are chipped into mulch for residents to use in the spring.

Cheltenham Township
Cheltenham Township is collecting Christmas trees on the westside on January 8th and January 29th and on the eastside on January 15th and February 5th. Additional bagged leaves collections are added on Christmas tree collection dates for any leftover leaves.

Springfield Township
Springfield Township begins its Christmas tree collection the first week of January. Please place your tree at the curbside on your regular collection day. Please do not “wrap” your tree in plastic as it will be chipped into useful mulch and made available to township residents at no charge at the township’s property on West Wissahickon Avenue.

Jenkintown Borough
During January, place your tree out on Monday night for Tuesday collection with yard waste.

Rockledge Borough
In January and February, the township will pick up Christmas trees on Tuesdays. Trees should be placed at the curb for pickup.
